Legal Counsel
Tink was founded in 2012, and a decade later became part of Visa in 2022. Tink was created with the aim of changing the banking industry for the better. We have built Europe’s most robust open banking platform – with the broadest, deepest connectivity and powerful services that create value out of the financial data. We offer the tools that allow anyone – from big banks and fintechs to startups – to build the future of financial services across Europe.
How you’ll challenge an industry:
Tink is Europe’s leading open banking platform, allowing customers to initiate payments from any account, at any bank to their own service in a fast and seamless way. It is vital for Tink to be able to take swift strategic decisions that are well-balanced and efficiently take into account all relevant legal risks. Our industry and our operations expand and grow more complex every day and we are in constant need of developing our excellence and processes across the organisation.
As a result of the continued growth, in both products and markets, the expectations on Tink increase as well. To continue our journey to success, we are now looking for a legal counsel to join our product and commercial legal team.
What we offer you
You will be part of an international, distributed team of lawyers with various backgrounds and expertise where English is used for both verbal and written communication. The team consists of smart, positive people who always strive to deliver first-class legal support. Together with the other lawyers you will contribute to the development of Tink’s legal and regulatory function. We offer a friendly and unpretentious atmosphere, and we encourage you to contribute to the team with your experience and expertise.
This role will challenge your legal acumen and analytical skills. You will be able to contribute to Tink reaching its goal of becoming the world’s leading open banking platform, by supporting Tink’s product and commercial organisation with proactive and innovative legal advice. As part of our team, you will have a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of business, technology and regulation, and shape the development of new financial technologies.
As a Legal Counsel you are part of our legal team reporting to the General Counsel, and will also work closely with the commercial, product and engineering teams. You will also work with our second-line compliance and risk control functions. As Tink is now part of Visa, you will also get the opportunity to work with our Visa colleagues located all over the world.
Areas of responsibility:
Legal focus areas will include commercial contracts and regulatory frameworks, primarily within payment services, data privacy, anti-money laundering, consumer protection, and marketing. Responsibilities may include:
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating various customer and supplier contracts, with focus on so-called PaaS/SaaS;
Supporting product development with legal advice;
Supporting the organisation with drafting and reviewing various other legal agreements, and corporate and regulatory documents and filings;
Providing practical legal advice and training to your colleagues;
Supporting the development and maintenance of Tink’s corporate and regulatory compliance programs;
Continuously developing and improving internal legal operations and processes;
Monitoring legal and regulatory trends and analysing their impact on Tink as well as our customers.
Individual areas of responsibility may be adapted based on your profile and strengths.
What we look for
Our innovative products and services require legal and regulatory innovation combined with high integrity and independence. To thrive in our team you must have the ability to adapt quickly to changes, be creative and solution-oriented as well as down-to-earth. You need to be smart, ambitious and always try your best. We believe that excellent communication skills and collaboration will create added value for Tink. Together with other team members, you will create the legal framework and conditions that will enable Tink to achieve its goals.
We’re looking for an individual who meets the following requirements:
Master of Laws (MLL) from a reputable university or law school;
Two to three years of relevant experience as in-house legal counsel and/or from a reputable law firm;
Excellent commercial contracts expertise, preferably within PaaS/SaaS;
Privacy law experience;
Strong business-orientation and ability to provide practical and actionable advice in a clear and friendly way
Excellent communication skills and a cooperative mindset aimed at adding value to Tink’s business will be very important;
Proficiency in written and spoken English (other major European languages would be considered a plus);
Experience from tech and PaaS/SaaS providers is meriting.
